Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

If I don’t live in Clay, Dickinson or Emmet Counties, can I still join?
ABSOLUTELY! There is no residency requirement.
I would like to be on the disaster assessment team, but don’t want to be a storm spotter. Can I still join?
ABSOLUTELY! Check ONLY the areas on the application that you want to be a part of.
What training is required?
It depends on what areas you wish to participate in. If you want to be a storm spotter, you would need to attend a Storm Spotter class that is put on by the National Weather Service. For those interested in Disaster Assessment, you will need to complete the Disaster Assessment training course (which will be provided at a later date - watch the training page for upcoming classes)
